The Role:
We are seeking a passionate, caring, and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join the dedicated team. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to support children with diverse needs, including autism, learning difficulties, and physical disabilities. You will play an essential role in providing tailored support to students, helping them access the curriculum, and assisting with their emotional, social, and academic development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and group support to students with SEN in both classroom and outdoor environments.
- Assist with personal care and mobility needs where necessary.
- Support students with their learning, ensuring they are actively engaged and making progress.
- Promote positive behaviour and help students develop social skills and independence.
- Help with the preparation of learning materials and activities.
- Work closely with class teachers and SENCO to ensure the delivery of tailored learning plans.
- Contribute to the monitoring and assessment of student progress.
- Attend meetings and contribute to team planning and development.
Key Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young adults with SEN is highly desirable.
- A genuine passion for working with children with special educational needs.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience in dealing with challenging situations.
- Ability to work as part of a team and show initiative.
- A relevant qualification in Special Education Needs (or equivalent) is advantageous but not essential.
